Our emotional landscapes are shaped in relationship to the information we take in on a daily basis. The family structures that tie us to the past. The social norms and rules that we adhere to. That are imposed on us. The swing of information coming at us daily - cycling through our nervous systems at a rapid rate. The relationships that both buoy and bind us. We are taught to ignore how these things shape us. How they bounce through our bodies. The force and weight of their energies leaving behind both empty voids and knotted masses within us. Reshaping our forms - our flesh, our minds, our emotions, our spirit.
How do you create space to unwind these knots? Fill up these voids? How does your physical environment contribute to healing? What totems do you carry? What things do you leave behind? How do you tap into your creativity to carry this transformation forward?
Inspired by the narrative beadwork of Visionary Woman Joyce Scott, participants will unpack these questions and more during an immersive jewelry making workshop with Philadelphia based artist, Hilary Hertzler. All experience levels are welcome, supplies will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a special personal item to incorporate into their wearable sculpture. This could be an item from nature, a piece of fabric, or anything that you may associate with healing or grounding. Space is limited and registration is required.
